Below are guidelines explaining how to set up a proxy server in your browser of choice. We cover the 5 most popular browsers – click through on any of the links below and you’ll be taken to the section on how to use a proxy in your browser of choice.

1.) Internet Explorer Proxy Settings
In Internet Explorer go to ‘Tools’ and at the bottom of the menu list click on ‘Internet Options’.

In the next window click on the ‘Connections’ tab up top and thereafter on the ‘LAN settings’ button.

Then in the final window tick the ‘Use a proxy server…’ check box as shown in the image and insert IP and port of the proxy you want to use. Then finish off by clicking ‘OK’ and you’re good to go.

Note: If at any stage you can’t browse the internet anymore it’s most likely due to the proxy server you’re using having died. In that case go through the same process again and either insert a new, working proxy server or uncheck the ‘use a proxy server…’ box.
2.) Firefox Proxy Settings
In Firefox click on ‘Tools’ in the top menu and then on ‘Options’ in the menu that opens thereafter.

In the next window then proceed by clicking on the ‘Advanced’ tab on the far right. Once that has opened select the ‘Network’ tab below and then click on the ‘Settings’ button.

In the following window tick ‘Manual proxy configuration’ and enter the IP and Port of the proxy you want to use. Finish off by clicking the ‘OK’ button and you’re good to go.

Note: If at any stage you can’t browse the internet anymore it’s most likely due to the proxy server you’re using having died. In that case go through the same process again and either insert a new, working proxy server or select ‘No proxy’ in the last window to browse without the use of a proxy.
3.) Chrome Proxy Settings
In Chrome look at the top, far right of the browser window for the icon of a wrench. Click that and in the menu that opens thereafter click on ‘Options’.

In the following window click on the ‘Under the Hood’ tab on the left. Then on the right look for the ‘Change proxy settings…’ button and click that.

In the bottom of the window that then pops up you want to look for and click the ‘LAN settings’ button.

Finally in the following window you’ll tick the ‘Use a proxy server…’ check box. Then finish off by clicking the ‘OK’ button and you’re good to go.

Note: If at some stage you find that you cannot browse the internet anymore it’s most likely due to the proxy server you’re using having died. In that case go through the same process again and either insert a new, working proxy server or uncheck the ‘use a proxy server…’ box.
Also be aware that if you have Internet Explorer installed on your PC as well then this will have changed the proxy settings for IE as well. Chrome uses the same internet properties as IE when it comes to proxy settings. So making changes in one will affect the other.
4.) Safari Proxy Settings
Please note, these safari instructions work for safari when it’s installed on a Microsoft Windows operating system. Instruction may differ if you’re working on a Mac.
First look in the top right of your browser for the icon of a gear and click that. In the menu that pops up click on ‘Preferences’.

In the following window you then first want to click on the ‘Advanced’ tab with the gear icon. Thereafter click on the ‘Change Settings…’ button below.

This will bring up another window. At the bottom of the window click the ‘LAN settings’ button.

Finally in the following window you’ll tick the ‘Use a proxy server…’ check box . Then finish off by clicking the ‘OK’ button and you’re good to go.

Note: If at some stage you find that you cannot browse the internet anymore it’s most likely due to the proxy server you’re using having died. In that case go through the same process again and either insert a new, working proxy server or uncheck the ‘use a proxy server…’ box.
Also be aware that if you have Internet Explorer installed on your PC as well then this will have changed the proxy settings for IE as well. Safari uses the same internet properties as IE when it comes to proxy settings. So making changes in one will affect the other.
5.) Opera Proxy Settings
In Opera you want to click on the Opera logo in the top left corner of your browser window. In the menu that then opens move your cursor over ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Preferences’ in the sub-menu.

In the window which then opens you first want to click on the ‘Advanced’ tab in the top right. Afterwards click on ‘Network’ in the left menu and then click on the ‘Proxy Servers…’ button.

In the following window tick the ‘HTTP’ check box. Then add your proxy IP and port and click to ‘OK’ button. You’re now good to go.

Note: If at some stage you find that you cannot browse the internet anymore it’s most likely due to the proxy server you’re using having died. In that case go through the same process again and either insert a new, working proxy server or uncheck the ‘HTTP’ box.
